Summary

14 hours, 7 minutes

**This is an MP3 CD edition**

In the latest novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, homicide detective Eve Dallas sifts through the wreckage of the past to find a killer。

The body was left in a dumpster like so much trash, the victim a woman of no fixed address, known for offering paper flowers in return for spare change—and for keeping the cops informed of any infractions she witnessed on the street。 But the notebook where she scribbled her intel on litterers and other such offenders is nowhere to be found。

Then Eve is summoned away to a nearby building site to view more remains—in this case decades old, adorned with gold jewelry and fine clothing—unearthed by recent construction work。 She isn’t happy when she realizes that the scene of the crime belongs to her husband, Roarke—not that it should surprise her, since the Irish billionaire owns a good chunk of New York。 Now Eve must enter a complex world of real estate development, family history, shady deals, and shocking secrets to find justice for two women whose lives were thrown away…

After fifty three, full length novels, I still love these characters, the series, and following Eve and team find the murderer。 A must read for me。

4。5 starsThis was a really good installment of the series。In this one Eve gets two cases。 One of them is of a murder victim found dead in a dumpster at a work-building site。The other is a very cold case of human remains from 30 or so years previous, found walled up on a nearby building site。I enjoyed this outing because both cases, while tangentially linked because of proximity and the people involved in each case know each other, the two cases are not at all connected。 They are two separate cas 4。5 starsThis was a really good installment of the series。In this one Eve gets two cases。 One of them is of a murder victim found dead in a dumpster at a work-building site。The other is a very cold case of human remains from 30 or so years previous, found walled up on a nearby building site。I enjoyed this outing because both cases, while tangentially linked because of proximity and the people involved in each case know each other, the two cases are not at all connected。 They are two separate cases that Eve solves separately using different methods。 This is a bit of a departure a) because usually in the series when there are two cases they are definitely linked and b) the killer(s) often drops a lot of bodies before (s)he is caught。I also like how each case took a little turn and Eve got not only legal justice for each of her victims and their murders went to jail, but we got some good 。。。 for want of a better word。。。 moral justice for them as well。 Eve went an extra step for each victim。 And even though they were dead she righted a couple of wrongs that happened to them in their past that had nothing to do with their actual murders。 It served to add a more humanistic element than just solving a pair of whodunnit murders。On the way to the solves we met some interesting characters。 There wasn't a lot of personal developments for our regular characters。。。 none at all。 So the story was all about the two cases, and that let the police stuff be front and center and also gave room for some walk on characters to shine。I really liked the Russian mobster guy。 You can tell Eve had no time for him because, duh, criminal。 But he was charming and I didn't want her to have to put him in jail。I liked the musician guy and his entire family。 They seemed like an interesting group to hang out with。 And we got to meet Garnet DeWinter's daughter who in just her brief scene was pretty interesting。 And finally, I am intrigued by a little seed Robb planted。 We hear about a very ingenious art theft that Roarke helped Feeney solve。 And the way it was presented in this book lends me to believe we'll hear more about it later。 That seed just might sprout in later installments。 。。。more

I love every one of these and enjoy every minute of reading them。 I relish all the little inside jokes and quirks and seeing many of my favorite characters。 It didn't take me even 24 hours to devour this one。 That's how it works, so it's a good thing the author is prolific。 I love every one of these and enjoy every minute of reading them。 I relish all the little inside jokes and quirks and seeing many of my favorite characters。 It didn't take me even 24 hours to devour this one。 That's how it works, so it's a good thing the author is prolific。 。。。more

Another wonderful bookI do so enjoy this series。 JD Robb’s Eve Dallas evolves at a believable pace, while keeping her core beliefs。 Peabody and Roarke are delightful。

J。D。 Robb has another bestseller。 This one has Eve pondering on her relationships as she expertly searches for the relationships of the victims。 As a big fan of the In Death series, I can say this was another worth waiting for。 Not giving any spoilers。 Now, we have to wait for the next one。 I couldn't put it down。 Read it in 2 nights。 J。D。 Robb has another bestseller。 This one has Eve pondering on her relationships as she expertly searches for the relationships of the victims。 As a big fan of the In Death series, I can say this was another worth waiting for。 Not giving any spoilers。 Now, we have to wait for the next one。 I couldn't put it down。 Read it in 2 nights。 。。。more

Great book。 I was a little annoyed with Peabody at the beginning; when she heard Roarke is in charge of the project, she was quick to offer her services of inform Roarke of this situation instead of allowing Dallas, Roarke's WIFE, to do it herself。 Dallas maybe forgetful at time but not in this, especially since this is the 2nd time this has happened & the job boss may likely call him himself。 There is no reason for her to inform him of this unless she wants Roarke to be pissed at Dallas for not Great book。 I was a little annoyed with Peabody at the beginning; when she heard Roarke is in charge of the project, she was quick to offer her services of inform Roarke of this situation instead of allowing Dallas, Roarke's WIFE, to do it herself。 Dallas maybe forgetful at time but not in this, especially since this is the 2nd time this has happened & the job boss may likely call him himself。 There is no reason for her to inform him of this unless she wants Roarke to be pissed at Dallas for not calling him 1st。 I know she's in love with him but trying to cause a wedge between them when she is supposed to be Dallas's partner, co-worker & friend。。。 There have been times throughout this series that I wonder about Peabody's motive for being Dallas's partner, since she came on scene AFTER Dallas started dating Roarke。 Overall this book was great with a few minors, but like all there is always some boring bits, nothing is all action。 。。。more

Another great Eve Dallas listen。 This was a three pronged mystery/thriller with some intertwining of the victims’ stories。 One of the longer audio books; without wanting to give away the story, if you are an ‘In Death’ series fan you will enjoy this addition。

not the best book in the series, i felt as if i had read parts of this plot in previous books。 i actually had to check my booklist to make certain this was not a repeat。

Another brilliant masterpiece from JD Robb。 At first description, I felt it tied a little too closely to Conspiracy in Death regarding the sidewalk sleeper that made paper flowers and Concealed in Death with a body hidden behind a wall on a Roarke property。 As I read, I became immersed in the various storyline angles。 Eve and the crew got double justice for Alva finding her killer and punishing the person that drove her to the hide out on the streets to begin with。 Another interesting case where Another brilliant masterpiece from JD Robb。 At first description, I felt it tied a little too closely to Conspiracy in Death regarding the sidewalk sleeper that made paper flowers and Concealed in Death with a body hidden behind a wall on a Roarke property。 As I read, I became immersed in the various storyline angles。 Eve and the crew got double justice for Alva finding her killer and punishing the person that drove her to the hide out on the streets to begin with。 Another interesting case where Eve uses her experiences as a young child to the advantage of the victim。 You can see how much she's progressed since the beginning of the series。 。。。more

Spending time in Mid 21st Century New York with Eve and Roarke is often as good as a holiday。 Yes there is a certain structure to the story - Eve gets called to a murder, Roarke steps in to assist at some stage, Eve wears gorgeous (but practical) clothes, Peabody and other characters help out, lots of really powerful people get interviewed, innovative new tech gets revealed。 It lightweight, its fun, its entertaining。 And we get two a year。 Perfect for those times, like now, when a holiday away i Spending time in Mid 21st Century New York with Eve and Roarke is often as good as a holiday。 Yes there is a certain structure to the story - Eve gets called to a murder, Roarke steps in to assist at some stage, Eve wears gorgeous (but practical) clothes, Peabody and other characters help out, lots of really powerful people get interviewed, innovative new tech gets revealed。 It lightweight, its fun, its entertaining。 And we get two a year。 Perfect for those times, like now, when a holiday away is not possible。This one followed the same formula and felt as warm and comforting as day on a tropical beach with a cocktail at hand。 I do admit to getting a little confused about some of the construction terms being used, since this is a murder (actually two) which takes place on building sites, but I did like how the likeable chief suspects were not responsible, and those who were, were painted as being absolutely detestable。 So having enjoyed my two day holiday in mid21C New York - what now? 。。。more

Another great In Death book。 I really never get tired of this series。 This is book #53 and was just as entertaining as the previous 52 books。 I actually had never read the synopsis to this book so I had no idea what to expect when heading into this book。 The book starts with Eve at a crime scene where a dead body is found in a construction site dumpster。 While on this first crime scene, she is pulled to another construction site next door where a body is found walled into an old wine cellar。 A b Another great In Death book。 I really never get tired of this series。 This is book #53 and was just as entertaining as the previous 52 books。 I actually had never read the synopsis to this book so I had no idea what to expect when heading into this book。 The book starts with Eve at a crime scene where a dead body is found in a construction site dumpster。 While on this first crime scene, she is pulled to another construction site next door where a body is found walled into an old wine cellar。 A body with just bones。 A body found in a construction job owned by, well you guessed it, Roarke。💙 “Who’s in charge?”“Mackie。 I’ll get him。”“Yeah, do that。 But who owns it? Who’s in charge of the project?”“Um。 You are。”Eve looked into Darlie’s big, puzzled green eyes。 And said, “Crap。”LOL I had a fun little laugh about this little scene。 So basically, we get 2 murder stories in 1。 Plus we get, not one, not two, but three, great takedown's in this book。 Which is one of my favorite parts of the In Death books。 We get some good Roarke and Eve scenes。Always love to read an In Death book。 Looking forward to February for the next one! :) 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 There is so much going on with the many layers of this story, it really displays Robb's craft with story telling。 The body of a murdered street woman is found in a dumpster, the skeleton of a woman and a child are found in one of Roarke's rehabs, a head plumber is found hanging in his room。 The history of two construction companies are entwined as actions in the past are revealed while solving current thefts that lead to the murders。 Eve takes on a crime boss and a family with old money and plen There is so much going on with the many layers of this story, it really displays Robb's craft with story telling。 The body of a murdered street woman is found in a dumpster, the skeleton of a woman and a child are found in one of Roarke's rehabs, a head plumber is found hanging in his room。 The history of two construction companies are entwined as actions in the past are revealed while solving current thefts that lead to the murders。 Eve takes on a crime boss and a family with old money and plenty of influence。 Not going to try to sum up all that goes on in this book, let us just say it is a story well worth getting lost in。 。。。more

Is there anything about Lt。 Eve Dallas not to like? Forgotten in Death is book #53 of the In-Death series by J。D。Robb (Nora Roberts)。 Narrated by Susan Ericksen, about 14 hours of listening。This tale is about two murders - one recent (a homeless woman's body in a dumpster) and one decades old (bones found during demolition), both in the same vicinity of Roarke properties。 All of your favorite characters appear, Peabody, Mira, McNabb, Nadine, etc。 Susan Ericksen's portrayal of each character is stellar, as usual。Typical In Death story - lots of my Forgotten in Death is book #53 of the In-Death series by J。D。Robb (Nora Roberts)。 Narrated by Susan Ericksen, about 14 hours of listening。This tale is about two murders - one recent (a homeless woman's body in a dumpster) and one decades old (bones found during demolition), both in the same vicinity of Roarke properties。 All of your favorite characters appear, Peabody, Mira, McNabb, Nadine, etc。 Susan Ericksen's portrayal of each character is stellar, as usual。Typical In Death story - lots of mystery and sleuthing。 If you enjoy the In Death series, it's a comfortable old shoe! 。。。more
